Recording starts automatically. One take.

The hardest part of a one-way interview is that nobody's there.

No interviewer nodding along. No chance to ask, "Could you repeat that?" Just a question on screen, a countdown, and a red recording dot. Most people's first real one-way interview is also the first time they've ever answered to a camera on a timer, and it shows.

The fix is simple: rehearse under the same conditions until the clock stops feeling scary.

How it works

  1. 01

    Pick your platform and role

Choose HireVue, Spark Hire, Willo, Harver, Jobma, or a general one-way format. Then pick a question set: banking, Big 4, graduate programs, or general behavioral questions. Or paste a job description to practice questions written for that role.

  2. 02

Answer on camera, against the clock

You get a prep countdown (for example, 30 seconds), then the answer timer starts (for example, 2 minutes). One take, just like the real thing. Your camera and mic run in your browser. No downloads, no account needed for your free session.

  3. 03

Get feedback and a better answer

When a scoring key is configured, feedback usually returns within a few seconds. With no key, you immediately see labeled demo scores. Either way you get STAR structure, relevance, filler counts from your words, and a tighter version of the answer.

Everything you need to practice like it's the real thing

Platform-accurate timers

Prep time, answer time, and retake rules that mirror how one-way interview platforms are commonly set up. Practice the format you'll actually face, not a generic mock interview.

One-take mode

Every practice question is one take. You do not get a redo of that question. The point is to recover mid-answer instead of starting over.

STAR structure scoring

See whether your answer clearly covers the Situation, Task, Action, and Result, and which part is missing or too thin.

Relevance check

Did you actually answer the question asked? Get flagged when you drift off-topic or spend too long on background.

Filler word tracking

Every "um," "uh," "like," and "you know," counted and highlighted in your transcript, so you can see the habit and break it.

AI-improved answer

Get a rewritten version of your answer, built from your own story and tightened to fit the time limit. It's a model to learn from, not a script to memorize.

Industry question banks

Question sets for banking, Big 4 accounting firms, graduate programs, and general behavioral interviews, written to reflect the kinds of questions candidates commonly report. On a paid session you can also paste a job description and get a set written for that role.

Watch yourself back

Replay your recording right in your browser to check eye contact, pacing, framing, and lighting before the real thing.

Your video stays in your browser. Full stop.

Practicing on camera feels exposed enough. You shouldn't have to wonder where your recordings end up.

  • Your video is never uploaded. Recording and playback happen locally in your browser. We don't store your video on our servers, and we can't watch it.
  • The transcript is made in your browser. Chrome and Edge turn speech into text while you record. In Chrome that speech service is Google's, and we never receive the audio. Safari and Firefox usually need a typed answer. We send the transcript text, not the video, to be scored. We do not keep a server copy. Google and the model provider may keep theirs under their own policies.
  • You control the copy on this device. The results page can delete the video, transcript, and feedback stored in this browser. We do not keep a server copy of them.
  • No account needed to try it. The first full practice on a browser does not require sign-up. Buying a session does.

Every plan includes:

  • All platform formats (HireVue, Spark Hire, Willo, Harver, Jobma, and general)
  • All industry question banks
  • Tailored questions from a job description, included in a paid session
  • STAR, relevance, and filler-word scoring
  • AI-improved answers
  • In-browser video, with nothing uploaded

A session is one complete mock interview of up to 8 questions. You choose 1, 3, 5, or every question in that bank. Pasting a job description generates a set only when the account has a credit or an active 30-day pass; that generation is part of the session you start and does not cost an extra credit. Without a credit, or when no scoring key is configured, you get a labeled preview set instead. Session-pack credits stay on the account until they are used. 30-Day Unlimited is a one-time payment: it does not auto-renew, and it runs for 30 days from the later of the purchase time or any current unlimited expiry. Checkout is processed by Creem. Prices are in USD.

Email us within 7 days of a purchase for a refund of that charge if no credit from it has been used and you have not started a paid practice on a 30-day pass. The free session is not a purchase. Creem processes the payment and the refund. Nothing on this site renews by itself.

Frequently asked questions

What is a one-way video interview?

A one-way (or asynchronous) video interview is a recorded interview with no live interviewer. You see a question on screen, get a short time to prepare, then record your answer within a time limit. Employers review the recordings later. Platforms like HireVue, Spark Hire, Willo, Harver, and Jobma are commonly used for this.

How is this different from practicing with a friend or in front of a mirror?

A friend reacts to you; a one-way interview doesn't. The pressure comes from the countdown, the single take, and talking to a camera with no feedback. OneShot recreates exactly those conditions, then gives you structured feedback a friend usually can't: STAR coverage, relevance, and a count of every filler word.

Is my video really not uploaded?

Yes. The video is recorded and played back in your browser and is not uploaded. Chrome and Edge can transcribe with the browser speech service. In Chrome that service is Google's, and we never receive the audio. Safari often cannot caption live, and Firefox does not. In those browsers you type or paste the answer. We send the transcript text, not the video, only when a scoring key is configured. We do not store that text on our server. Google and the model provider may keep their own copy under their policies. We do not control those retention periods.

Are the questions the exact ones I'll get?

No, and no honest tool can promise that. Employers write and change their own questions. Our question banks reflect the types of questions candidates commonly report for each industry and format, so you'll practice the patterns: motivation, teamwork, conflict, failure, "why this firm," and so on.

Are the timers the same as the real platform?

Each employer configures its own settings, so timers vary. We use common default setups for each platform (for example, a short prep countdown and a 1 to 3 minute answer window) and let you adjust them to match your invitation email if it lists specific times.

Can I use this during a real interview?

No. OneShot is for preparation only. Please don't use it, or any AI tool, during a live or recorded interview. That's against most employers' rules and could cost you the job.

What do I get for free?

One full practice session, with all features included and no credit card required. If it helps, you can buy more sessions starting at $7.

Do I need to install anything?

No install. Use a desktop or laptop browser, and allow the camera and microphone if you want a local recording. Live captions work in Chrome and Edge. Safari can record, but captions are unreliable, so type the answer. Firefox does not caption live here; type or paste. Phone browsers are not a supported setup.

Is OneShot affiliated with HireVue, Spark Hire, or other platforms?

No. OneShot Interview is an independent practice tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any interview platform or employer.
